The State of Florida requires that Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) attend at least 12 hours of inservice training annually in order to maintain and renew CNA status.  Over a two year period, it is mandatory that the following topics be included in the CNAs inservice education:

  • HIV/AIDS, Infection Control

  • Domestic Violence

  • Medical Record Documentation & Legal Aspects Appropriate to Nursing Assistants

  • Resident Rights

  • Communication with cognitively impaired clients

  • CPR skills*

  • Medical Error Prevention and Safety
